What is the difference between home health and home care?
Both Home Health and Home Care organizations provide services within the confines of one’s residence. That location may be the normal home-style environment or it may be a senior residential community.
Home Health offers clinical type of care; think nurse or physical therapist. Normally there is a finite period for which services are rendered depending on the medical need. Their services are generally financially covered by Medicare or equivalent payment sources.
Home Care provides assistance with normal activities of daily living that cannot be performed by the person requiring care. Things such as hygiene related events, cooking or perhaps light housekeeping. These services are privately paid by the person financially responsible for the one needing care. Such services may be contracted for an indefinite period, usually until passing or moving to out-of-home placement.
